Additional The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1) Information

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half-Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

What Customers Say About The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1):

I bought this book for my 10 year old son and he LOVED it. He read every book in the series, and would re-read The Lightning Thief again as he waited for the new books to come out. I bet he has read it at least 5 times cover to cover. I highly recommend these books.

I would say this book is right there with the 8-10 year old crowd, not the 12+. Basically, the writing was bland, pretty dull. The biggest problem I had was Percy's mother, and how the author did not, could not, convey any emotional sadness or distress from the main character. I'm an adult, I very much enjoy reading tween books on occasion, and got this book thinking it would be a nice read. It IS in general, but oh so boring. The mother was thrown in on as a side note, from time to time. (trying not to throw a spoiler in here) Read it if you want, enjoy it too, but be prepared to yawn a bit.

Once you pick up the book you can never put it down until you are finished. By Joshua, aged 11. I listened to the audiobook which was really exciting. This is an amazing book. Really great use of words. I couldn't stop listening. Now I can't wait to start the next book and go see the movie.

This has so many similarities to Harry Potter, I'm surprised there hasn't been a lawsuit.

It has the same producers that made Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets. It is going to be a movie coming out soon.

This is a mythology book. He goes to camp half-blood and meets satyrs and children of the gods.

Percy Jackson is a 12 year old boy who finds out he is the son of Posedion, the sea god. Worth the money any day.

He goes to the underworld to get Zues's lightning bolt back. It has a lot of action in it.

I can't wait to see it. I hope it will be good.
